Please understand that there are some limitations to E911 dialing, and not all locations will be able to use this service. It is important to make sure your HipTel E911 form always has accurate up to date information.
In order for HipTel to be up and running, it relies on your broadband connection working properly, and electricity being supplied to the location of your HipTel phone. Without power or a broadband connection your HipTel phone will not work. As a result we strongly recommend seeking alliterative options for 911 dialing. Many customers find their cell phones to be useful alternatives to their HipTel phones.
Yes. HipTel does provide E911 services. Enhanced 911 or E911 enables 911 Emergency Services to see your name, phone number, and address when you call. With out E911 service, 911 Emergency Services will be unable to tell the phone number you are calling from and your address. Dialing 911 will still contact Emergency Services, however you will need to tell them your phone number and address. In the event you are unable to speak after dialing 911, your destination will be unknown.
To make sure your HipTel phone is set up for E911 services please log into your account and fill out our E911 form. This will only take a few seconds and only needs to be done once. Should you move, it is extremely important to update your E911 form. Failure to update your form will result in officers being dispatched to your previous location.
